Perfectly positioned on the Brisbane waterfront, Bavarian Bier Café Eagle Street Pier is our very first interstate venture. By uniting the fabulous setting with a striking interior that caters to groups of all sizes, Eagle Street Pier is destined to become a local hotspot for corporate lunches, after-work drinks, celebratory events and weekend fun.

Editorial

Sitting high above the riverside, with the glorious views of the Story Bridge which all Eagle Street Pier eateries boast but most only glimpse, the new Brisbane branch of Sydney's successful Bavarian Bier Café is an obvious place to take time out from a busy working day. With an extensive contemporary European menu and huge range of Bavarian beer, it's no wonder businessmen and women are flocking across the CBD to spend their lunch hours here.

What is more surprising is that they're coming back when work is finished, for dinner and Sunday lunch. The quality of the menu is the trick here; though sausages and schnitzel feature on countless pub-grub menus, those are nothing like this. The chicken schnitzel is shallow- not deep-fried to maintain an appetising moistness, accentuated by herby Bavarian mayonnaise. The cheese kransky on sauerkraut is another gem, delivering a sweet and authentic tang of smoked German sausage.

And then of course there are the beers. All of the Bier Café's beers are ‘pure biers’ imported directly from Germany. Only the four key ingredients of water, hops, malt and yeast are used, producing crisp and refreshing beverages with no artificial aftertaste — or hangover! Despite this intense quality control, a great variety is on offer, from the crisp pale Löwenbräu lager to the darker delights of bitter wheat ales. Diners wishing to be educated can purchase a three- or five-bier selection ‘flight’, but many more are likely to be wooed by the Teutonic swagger of the 1-litre stein glasses.

But whether you're after a stein of ale or a lunchtime pilsner with a light meal, there can be no doubt that this little taste of Bavaria has filled a vital niche in the Brisbane CBD. Expect it to be buzzing with satisfied patrons, whenever you turn up.
