Cool Spot
Editorial
Everyone in Darwin knows Fannie Bay's Cool Spot - it's hard to miss as you head to or from the city along the shoreline. This family-run restaurant and trendy hangout is great for a quick thirst-quencher or a long, lazy afternoon with the newspapers. Sit on the big open deck in the seabreeze with a cappuccino, or relax in the spacious air-conditioned interior with a tasty snack. If you fancy a stroll along the foreshore towards the lovely East Point beach reserve, take along a Cool Spot cold drink or ice-cream. The bike track goes right past the restaurant, so this is a good halfway house for thirsty cyclists.
The Cool Spot offers everything delicious in the way of cool treats: milkshakes, thickshakes and juices. Spoil yourself with an iced strawberry - a blend of strawberry, milk and strawberry ice-cream. Or try the decadent affogato - hot black coffee poured over vanilla ice-cream. The gelato is to die for, with flavours such as creamy pistachio and tangy lemon that melts on the tongue. Meal options are equally tempting. You'll find light and large brekkies, homemade quiche, local barramundi, freshly made sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes and more. The impressive range of burgers includes turkey, Scotch fillet, vegetarian, chicken tandoori and the barra burger - a must if you're a visitor to the Territory. The Cool Spot opens from 7am until late, serving a full menu every day to 10pm. Mondays to Thursdays you can catch a treat before 11pm, Fridays and Saturdays before midnight.
