Jonah's Palm Beach restaurant offers Modern Australian cuisine under the direction of award-winning chef George Francisco.
George's modern Australian style of cooking has a significant French influence, but it is his passion for finding and using the best and freshest local produce that will ensure Jonah's diners are as impressed about the food as they are about the view.
Editorial
Alluring, seductive, charming… Jonah's has a magnetic appeal. It takes a bit of finding, but don't despair if you get into an argument about which turn you should have taken along the way, because all will be forgiven once you enter the restaurant. The ultimate venue for a romantic dinner, floor-to-ceiling windows directly overlook Whale Beach seemingly miles below. Window tables have the best view, but you can glimpse the aquamarine ocean from every table, so the choice is tough between these and the delicious white leather booths that line the back wall.
Whatever the view, the food is fantastic. The menu changes seasonally, and one of the summer highlights is the seafood indulgence platter: oysters, prawns, mussels, scallops and a sea-urchin shell stuffed full of delicate crab meat are piled high and served with salmon roe and dipping sauce. The braised veal cheek and Alaskan king crab leg with celeriac puree, hazelnut and pea sprout salad is equally good. Finish with Belgian triple-chocolate layered cake with mocha rum sauce and the three-cheese platter with fresh fruit, nuts, walnut bread and lavosh - if you're going to indulge, you might as well go all the way. You can even arrive via seaplane from Rose Bay. At least then you won't argue about the driving.
