Sydney Theatre Company - Wharf 2 Theatre
Editorial
A few years after the STC kicked into life in 1978, it moved to its absurdly good looking home. At the wharf and its neighbour, The Sydney Theatre, locally and internationally penned productions play out; although, on occasion, the STC has reason to colonise the drama theatre at the Sydney Opera House.
Wherever the staging occurs, the STC's commitment to mentoring young actors can be felt. A company that has fostered performers such as Mel Gibson, Judy Davis, Hugo Geoffrey Rush and Toni Collette continues to tempt talent into full flower.
Seasons and individual shows can be enjoyed in relative comfort here. Sight-lines and acoustics here are very decent. For those who are hearing or vision impaired, the theatre has a program of accessibility. Those who are mobility-impaired may find assistance at the cloak room. Wheelchair spaces are available in theatres.
Happily, a very decent restaurant, The Wharf, is contiguous to the theatre. After one has savoured a night of drama, this hatted spot by the harbour provides a great digetsif.
