Emerald Room
Editorial
The rather beautiful Industrie South of France restaurant on Pitt Street has more then a few secret cards up its rather fine sleeves. The crown jewel amongst these stylish havens is the sumptuous Emerald Room. Conjuring up images of the Wizard of Oz in his gleaming green palace, the truth is just as fantastical.
The place reeks of decadent glamour, with green leather banquette seating circling the deep green walls accentuated with red and gold striped wallpaper. The cosy dimensions of this alluring hot spot are cleverly extended by good use of gilt edged mirrors and reflected light from red glass chandeliers. It really has to be seen to be believed.
From the moment you sit yourself down in one of the gorgeously inviting, deep red armchairs, expectations will be staggeringly high. Thankfully, the Emerald Room does not disappoint. Attentive staff are dab hands at mixing up cocktails fitting of the stunningly salubrious surrounds.
Run with the French theme and order up a Cosmo A La Fleur complete with rose petals. Or you could indulge yourself with a chest-hair inducing nip of finest single malt whisky, or a big goblet of one of many tasty wines on offer. Do expect the best of the best, and a suitably impressive price tag attached. Before you know it you'll be clicking those ruby heels and wishing there's no place like the Emerald Room.
