Summit Restaurant & Orbit Lounge Bar
Editorial
Twirling 47 storeys above the city, there is no mistaking how Summit got its name. If you look a little into its past you’ll also learn that it is Sydney’s first revolving restaurant. But who wants to look at the past when there is such a dynamic, modern, constantly-evolving restaurant right here in the present? And, believe me, there is. Other than a dizzying awareness that 47 floors is very high off the ground, Summit immediately strikes an impression as the sort of place you’d like to show off to your most fashion-savvy friends and associates. It is divided between a bar, tapas lounge, fine-dining restaurant and sparkling new private dining area. Red carpets, white and black furniture – retro at times, quaint at others – and dim pink-tinged lighting settles you in and highlights the views. Then the menus take over.
Alongside a tempting beverage list, the bar also offers a menu of bite-sized plates ideal for post-work or pre-theatre drinks. However, with celebrity chef Michael Moore dominating in the kitchen, you may want to get more serious about the food here. With this you have two options: you can snag a table in the Tapas Lounge and nibble your way through a menu of share plates and glasses of wine while enjoying the spectacular views or, for a more formal experience, settle into the fine-dining restaurant where Moore flexes his creativity on a menu that revolves faster than the restaurant itself. Moore’s signatures of pork belly, cold smoked petuna ocean trout and souffle appear in various guises alongside the season’s freshest picks. Summit is also due to open its brand new lavish private dining room to take the gourmet function experience to a new level…and, remember, it knows a thing or two about heights.
