Meaning “the goodness of life”, Bonta Vita lives up to its namesake by offering an overwhelming myriad of irresistible dining opportunities. Stemming from the relationship with his Malaysian wife, head chef and owner Marcello Ferrero, who hails from Italy, has introduced an intriguing menu which features both Italian and Malaysian cuisine. Flavours from Europe and Asia sit happily side-by-side so that one diner might enjoy a home-style beef and eggplant casserole, served regally in its stewing pot, while another tucks into a traditional nasi goreng. The drinks list is a sight in itself with rare concoctions such as the unique flavour of soaked dried fruits “yamesh”. Curries, grills, salads and burgers all make an appearance too; however, if the choice is all too much, the Rice Dice is an exhilarating game of meal chance where a roll of the dice decides your dish combination.
The real showstoppers, however, are the “rizzas” which, by combining roti bread with pizza, culminate in a moreishly good dish that will have you licking your chops. Try one with BV sauce, Italian cured meats and mozzarella, or opt for a sweet choice with custard, Belgian chocolate and strawberries - superb! The rizza section takes centrestage of the restaurant where guests can watch as the chefs skilfully knead, stretch and flip the bases with theatrical flair. Otherwise, the decor embraces an 80s fetish - and not without reason. The orange and brown colour theme with booth and table seating, and luminous dangling baubles are reminiscent of a time Marcello believes to have been carefree and fun - an environment which he strives to recapture. So, make the most of a BV excursion and make sure you end your feast with a scoop of gelato - the list of 24 flavours and combos is temptation exemplified.
