Wall Cafe
Editorial
Wall Cafe is a slightly larger space than its Melbourne big brother, Wall Two 80, but somehow manages to hold onto the minimal, cosy sharing style that means few tables and more bench perching. It's an ideal haunt which suits the on the hop coffee stop, or longer dalliances with the weekend papers. Wall is a vibrant and slightly edgy bastion of hip and a welcome leader on the Surry Hills scene.
A big old red building slightly crumbling on the corner of Campbell and Foster, Wall has an abundance of cheeky charm. Raw concrete floors and higglety pigglety furniture make for the perfect early morning caffeine station, or lazy weekend lunch. The dark stuff itself is impeccable, with a quality of craft shining through in each and every cup of Genovese - from a straight up espresso to a creamy goodness latte.
The menu is short and sweet, and affordable, with the focus on freshly baked cakes and toasted pide, keeping things simple and focused on caffeine imbibing. Thankfully it's the kind of spot where they don't really care if you park yourself faith a good novel for hours on end. Just expect serious caffeine jitters by the time you leave.
