Trinity Bar & Bistro
Editorial
A lot of money and attention to detail has gone into the Trinity Bar and Bistro. From humble beginnings, this hotel has morphed into one of Surry Hills's most popular drinking spots; which is no mean feat considering the ample, yet sometimes debatable, competition in the area.
The venue features a few drinking spaces, each with varying decor. If you're after a scholarly drop, try the downstairs bar - it's a slice of Oxford right in Sydney's toff neighbourhood. With a massive bookshelf on one wall, the bar holds a healthy amount of punters in simple, wooden chairs and tables, plus banqettes along the bookshelf wall.
Meanwhile, the upstairs bar is more a lounging affair, with luxurious sofas and more banquettes set around dark-stained, hardwood floors and pastel carpets. And while the downstairs bar dispenses more of a casual list of drinks - a variety of tap beers, mixed spirits and wines - the upstairs bar has more of a 'let your hair down' kind of feel to it.
Wines and cocktails take primo position on the dance card, with most wines around the $30 mark, by the bottle. By the glass prices hover around $8. And staff are more than keen to recommend a cocktail to slide into your hands as you lounge on a sofa.
