Once an underground legend, the now more accessible 505 Club remains dedicated to fantastic live music from all over the world, six nights a week.

Editorial

505 Club is a ‘jazz club’ if we have to pigeon-hole the venue, but you will find it to be so much more. Handpicked artists across funk, roots, Latin, gypsy and jazz genres. An enthusiastic and supportive patronage. Tasty eccentric food at reasonable prices. Finally, and most importantly, two committed owners who run 505 for the artist community and strive to keep prices down and quality up. This is a venue proudly dedicated to performance, not profit.

Started in 2004 by artist and actress Kerri Glasscock and jazz bassist partner Cameron Undy, 505 was an illegal underground jazz club run in a small warehouse until 2009. It had a strong following of artists and musicians, and acts would play at a fraction of their normal cost as a thankyou to the entire underground. However in 2010 the club was relocated nearby and relaunched ‘overground’ on Cleveland Street, joining the new wave of authentic music clubs including Hot Lips and the Red Rattler.

Whilst you may have never heard of the majority of artists that play at the 505, rest assured the music has to get a thumbs up from Kerri and Cameron first, so have faith – it will be good. Accompany your music discoveries with an appetizer from the 505 menu like chilli beef nachos or paella balls (both $12) or a mean antipasto board ($14).
