The Point Hotel
Editorial
Let's start with the décor. Firstly, it's a heritage listed building - always a drawcard. Secondly, it's been completely overhauled and renovated without sucking the life out of it. What remains is a light and airy bar and bistro with quality wooden furnishings, and just enough colour to add warmth but not make your head spin.
In the mood for something a little more intimate? Head upstairs to Margot's Lounge or the Karma Bar. Margot's is a plush little number, complete with padded pouffes, and a gorgeous fireplace; this is where small groups plant themselves for a long winters evening. Karma Bar has more of a laid-back Eastern atmosphere and is much more suited to a balmy night.
Now to the drinks. While their Caprioskas and Martinis are hot to trot, try their Long Island Green Tea. It was surprisingly refreshing and good value. The wine list is certainly not reinventing the wheel, but there is a good selection of some of Australia's most tried and tested. It's a solid offering to be sure.
Hungry? The food is of a high standard and varied enough to cater for all tastes.
