milk & two
Editorial
Right at the end of Harris Street, housed in the former CSR sugar refinery building, Milk and Two is a little cafe serving a delicious array of wholesome meals to enjoy with a cuppa by the water. The brainchild of Greg Anderson and Patricia Nunes, who own the neighbouring Sugaroom, Milk and Two is the casual younger sibling with counter service and nothing over $20. Open for breakfast and lunch seven days and dinner on Friday and Saturday, it offers simple food that doesn't compromise on quality. Anderson, who trained under Matt Moran, oversees the kitchen and all baking is done on the premises.
For a substantial breakfast (available until noon) go for the Milk and Two Big Breakfast with eggs any style, bacon, tomato, mushrooms, sausage and sourdough, or the ricotta hotcakes with strawberry and blueberry compote. For a light lunch or dinner try a pizza, salad or perhaps the steamed Tasmanian mussels with garlic, chilli and tomato. There are also toasted sandwiches and focaccias available from the sandwich bar and a selection of desserts are on display (served with ice-cream). For something more substantial opt for the chargrilled 300g T-bone steak and shoestring fries with peppercorn or mushroom sauce. The small wine list offers almost all by the glass and there is a small beer and spirit selection.
