Soho Bar
Editorial
Given its Kings Cross location, it’s no wonder that the Soho Bar has become one of Sydney’s busiest dance clubs. With a formidable reputation for partying hard, The Cross, as it’s known to locals, attracts all manner of visitors in search of a big night out. The Soho Bar is set up to provide exactly that experience.
Having held ‘institution’ status in Sydney for 20 years, a recent extreme makeover has elevated the Soho Bar into the 21st Century, bringing with it a brand new appeal for clubbers. Four bars over two levels provide differing experiences that capture the best of Sydney’s reputation as a city that operates on a world stage. The black and red Aviary Lounge is adorned with bird cages and quirky furnishings reminiscent of a Philippe Starke wet-dream with dramatic views over the city skyline.
The rather more subdued yet by no means less dramatic Piccadilly Lounge offers a second entertaining space. The private Gold Room caters for groups of up to 40 people, while the Art Deco bar offers a more masculine club-like atmosphere where you might imagine old world brandy balloons and string of pearls.
The ‘cocktail chefs’ at the Soho keep patrons on their toes (albeit maybe teetering after a few too many) with a long list of old favourites and special signature cocktails, top shelf wines, spirits and beers. Patrons can expect to be razzle-dazzled with six separately themed areas, some of which open up onto the main club at midnight, in a brilliant reflection of Sydney’s vibrant, cosmopolitan attitude to good times, glitz and glamour.
