The kind, and clearly quite literate folk, of this establishment see fit to reproduce this and other quotes from notable lushes. There's nothing better than a nod from the best minds of the past to make you feel good about getting gently blotto.
Although, one doesn't get blotto at this place that evokes the spirit of the Dandy. One could, of course, get blotto, but tipsy is more in keeping with the well-mannered ambience. Besides which, how many of those expertly made cocktails should you be drinking? If it's one too many, you'll have no comeback for her as she quips, “One more drink and I'd have been under the host.”
This place is, to use the language of people who don't bother to read Mrs Parker, a little “spendy”. But, heavens, Dotty, these really are the very best cocktails since we were last at the Algonquin. And the dear little food platters? Well, they're quite delectable. Brevity is not just the soul of lingerie. It can work very nicely in a cheese platter as well.
Embrace your inner Oscar Wilde, put him in a nice pair of trousers and see if he can't amuse all and sundry in this latter day salon.
