Fratelli Paradiso

This eatery is less rustica-Italiano than funky Potts Point, serving modern Italian food in sexy surrounds. Sample the seasonal dishes, or stick to one of the best lasagnes in town.

Editorial

This dark, handsome Italian, dressed in fetching grey and oozing charisma, has been an institution among the pasta-twirling, wine-sipping locals of Potts Point for years. Packed to the brim with foodies, it's the place to see and be seen; an artfully designed space boasting enticing aromas and modern Italian fare. This teeming trattoria is the creation of the Paradiso brothers, and encompasses a restaurant and bakery. Practise your Italian on the giant blackboard menus - or the charmingly aloof waiters can help translate.

Breakfast begins on a high note in the bakery next door; kick-start the day with divine coffee and a selection from the display cabinet bursting at the seams with enticing pastries, muffins and tarts. If choosing proves too difficult, simply pop an assortment in a box and take away. Watch the bakers kneading the dough and inhale the comforting aromas emerging from the giant ovens.

Dinner presents an entirely new set of selection challenges. The layered luxury of Paradiso's famed lasagne? Or the deliciously fluffy morsels of an Italian risotto? Or maybe even the textured bulbs of a rich gnocchi? Start with bread sourced from the adjoining bakery and a nibble on calamari or antipasto, then tuck in to mains with Italian gusto and savour an Italian wine or two.

Whatever your choice, Fratelli Paradiso is certainly a delicious slice of Potts Point paradise.
