The London
Editorial
Formerly known as the Golden Eagle, and then the Circular Saw, the beautiful old sandstone is a perfect haven from modern times. And they are mad keen on their sport, being a hop, skip and a jump away from the home of the Waratahs. The rugby plays out on giant big screens in the main bar, and attracts big crowds of locals; however the atmosphere stays nice and friendly.
There's a big balcony with one long shared table offering a fantastic vantage point for the panoramic views of Darling Harbour. The food's great too, with all the usual suspects including parmas and beer battered fish and chips, but also providing some exotic offerings in the form of Moroccan spiced lamb and Piri Piri chicken. If you fancy some grander tucker, the adjoining restaurant is pretty impressive too.
Upstairs is all about hosting private functions, with two rooms on offer, and the ability to hire both. What's great is that there's no hire charge, just a minimum bar spend, and that's never likely to be too much of a problem, is it? The London is the perfect antidote to super-swish style bars, if you just want a cold beer, great grub and friendly bar staff.
