The Fringe Bar
Editorial
This old darling got all dolled up a year ago, and now boasts a smashing set of chandeliers and ritzy trimmings. Ornate lamps light up red velvet curtains and black-and-white checked floors, music icons watch over proceedings from photo frames, and revellers sip and nosh at tables spilling through two rooms. Fortunately, the frills and fandangles haven't taken away from what The Fringe does best: cracking cocktails, a $10 bar menu and nightly events. The kitchen is open every day, serving lunch Wednesday to Sunday and dinner seven nights a week. The $10 menu remains a clever lure, with a few $12.50 options peppered throughout. Mains, pizzas, salads and sides all have a place on the list, meaning you can burrow a hole into a hearty beef lasagne, or nibble daintily on tender salt and pepper squid as they jostle with chips and an addictive aioli - all for a mere $10. You'll also find grilled salmon smothered with pesto dressing and a 250g grain-fed rump steak with fries and salad for just $12.50.
Wash your meal down with a glass of wine, beer on tap or one of The Fringe's legendary cocktails - categorised into “the romantic”, “the quirky”, “the conservative”, “the fake tanners” and “the masses”. “Head over heels” is a fresh, fruity mix of vodka, Chambord, lime and berries, or groups can get festive with jugs of sangria de cava. The weekly Fringe calendar navigates comedy, trivia, resident djs, all-you-can-eat pizza, live music and even Saturday markets. Fridays are extra cheery days at this bar, when happy hour lingers from 4pm to 9pm. The Fringe also hosts private parties, with two function rooms available.

The Fringe has appalling event management going on. The promised a function room for the whole night but released it to the public after 2.5 hours. Wrecked my special day but still charged me for it in full. Appalling and dissapointed.
