Relish on Regent
Editorial
Pssst. Paddington has a secret. Passed along the neighbourhood whisper chain, the locals have, until now, kept this little gem relatively secret. Part cafe and part caterer, Relish on Regent is a charming deli that delivers restaurant-quality food in a casual cafe setting. A petite room sits behind the blue-and-yellow-tiled exterior; its shelves bulging with foodie delights. Locals sip on coffee at window seats, tuck into lunch at the communal centre table, and amuse pets on the outside benches which are custom-made to fit the gentle slope of Regent Street. Browse the epicurean goodies on sale, from jams to hand-made pasta, and let the wandering eye find satisfaction in the sweet treats spilling over the counter. Mini muffins and friands beckon from their home beside the coffee machine, which pumps out deliciously warming brews, non-stop.
All hail the humble sanga. At Relish it comes dressed in such a wide-ranging wardrobe of garbs it's hardly recognisable. Turn your eye to the blackboard menu on the back wall to take your pick. The chicken, rocket and tomato combination is a must-try; delicate morsels of warm chicken breast melt into seeded aioli as a toasted Turkish exterior provides a suitably satisfying crunch. An ever-changing selection of salads, quiches and frittatas fill the display cabinet, perfect for lunch or early weeknight dinner. Pop in for a coffee and cake, or one of Relish's belly-warming hot chocolates complete with chocolate buds. If all the seats are taken, simply pop brown paper takeaway bag under arm and coffee in hand and set up a picnic on one of the grassy knolls surrounding Regent Street. Relish on Regent also caters for office lunches and festive functions.
