Durty Nelly's Bar & Printroom Restaurant
Editorial
Durty Nelly's Irish theme pub is showing her age. This grand old building's been around a while, starting life as the Rose & Crown when it flung it's doors open for the rougher crowd the newly-opened Victoria Barracks drew in. Take a look at some black and white pics and you'll see it's looking pretty much the same as it always did, right down to the restored balcony. Inside there's a few more big TV screens, that's all.
These days of course it's all a bit swisher indoors. Well, as swish as an Irish pub gets. There'a a rather impressive black marble bar, wrought iron fireplace, the requisite polished floor boards and paraphernalia-infested walls. There's always a thrum in the air from the jovial crowd of young and old alike. They certainly know how to serve up a creamy pint of Guinness, that's for sure, and some hearty counter meals too.
There's a slightly more formal dining area just upstairs, or if you just want a snack, they stock Ireland's legendary Tayto chips (or crisps as any genuine Irishman would say). More than most this place captures the essence of genuine Gaelic charm, borne from a sense of actual locals, not just tourists gawking in silly leprechaun hats. Though they show up too.
Its a rare day I give an 'Irish' pub a break, so give Durty's a go. Just be sure you like sport. You name it, they play it. Whether your Aussie Rules, NRL or A-League, it's all on. They have Setanta for the best European footy, Fox Sports and ESPN too. As such, you can expect a relatively rowdy crowd on any sports night - which will be most nights with this lot installed.

Any idea how Felicity knew there were Irish Footy scores in the male toilets? Nellies is a great pub to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
