This old-school Italian fine diner is owned by Attilio Marinangeli and is warm and welcoming, embracing tradition in its food and style.

Editorial

This grand old dame of Paddington has seen fly-by-nighters rise and fall, and trends come and go, all the while standing her ground on a quiet suburban street corner. Her elegance has survived the decades, harping back to a time when dining out was an occasion to be savoured, and flawless service was the norm. Take a step into Old World Italy at this fine dining institution. White-clothed tables sit beneath oil paintings and opulent wallpaper, while a grand central bar dominates the dining room. Attention to detail is relentless, from the genteel waitstaff to the Italian menu.

The Darcy's menu cites traditional dishes in alluring Italian, with the aid of English descriptions for guests. Primi piatti (entrees) offer the poetic insalata di frutti di mare, a mixed seafood salad, or traditional carpaccio di manzo con scaglia de parmigiana - a thinly sliced fillet of beef drizzled with olive oil, lemon and shaved parmesan. Oysters are available by the half or full dozen - either natural, Mornay or Kilpatrick. I secondi (mains) navigate lamb, calf liver, veal, beef and fish, with sides of bruschetta; tomato, mozzarella and basil; or rocket with shaved parmesan. Try the tender eye fillet of beef, which is sauteed with garlic and Worcestershire sauce, and finished with brandy, or the sliced veal rolled with an eggplant, pesto and pine nut filling. Savour la dolce vita with tiramisu, gelati or a tot of dessert wine. A selection of cheeses will suit those who are keen to continue exploring the extensive wine list.

After a weekend of birthday and Fathers Day celebrations at Kable's for dinner on Friday, lunch at Garfish Kirribilli [which was great] on Saturday and Father's Day overpriced lunch at Catalina on Sunday it was a breath of fresh air to experience alllll that fine dining represents when we celebrated my birthday there with my family on the following Tuesday night. I am only sorry for all the wasted meals at "trendy" restaurants when Darcy's provides everything you would want in fine dining. Darcy's is an original, authentic Italian cuisine restaurant. Darcy's would be the absolute best place to take someone on a romantic date, the perfect place to take your business colleagues or parents, anyone who appreciates beautiful food and wine, great service and tradition.

I cannot recommend Darcy's enough. The service is impeccable, the staff discreet and professional, the food is delicious and arrives in good time, and Attilio is always warm, welcoming and generous. You are wasting your money anywhere else.
