A genuinely charming piece of heritage, that welcomes all with a friendly smile and a very satisfying wine list.

Editorial

The Bellevue Hotel remains one of Paddington's genuinely charming, backstreet drinkeries - in the homeliest sense of the word. Since opening in the 1880s the old bar has welcomed a long retinue of punters into its soft nest of dark wood and faded ale adverts. It has provided something of an Edwardian innersole for locals and visitors alike to slip into for a drink or a meal, and to enjoy the warm trappings of a genuine pub.

It is probably the Bellevue's simplicity that is the key. The bar is known for its bangers and mash, offers a good range of beers, and the comprehensive wine list has been known to keep a table ticking over well past the afternoon. The small back bar provides a comfortable nook to place a punt on the races, with a tidy TAB set up along with a melange of comfortable couches and English styled settees to sink into. Meanwhile, a photo of Princess Di (among others) enjoying a tipple with the Hotel's inimitable regular Tony also adorns the wall, along with other memorabilia.

Further towards the back of this old pub you'll find the restaurant. This has been designed with a refreshingly light touch by Damien Pignolet, who also oversees the menu. The clean white walls invite the light and make the space perfect for both intimate dinners as well as larger groups. The food is very much restaurant-styled fare, and its traditional and Mediterranean menu comes highly recommended.
