Australian Centre for Photography
Editorial
Three of our greatest contemporary photographic artists, Bill Henson, Tracey Moffatt and William Yang, all showed at the centre early in their careers. Years ago, the place delivered a major Dupain retrospective. The ACP has a reputation for delivering on fine art. And this is rarely so popular as in the annual exhibition of portraiture, Head On.
Photo-journalism is explored at the centre. Fashion photography, too, gets a regular and chic jersey within the walls of this centre. The events and exhibitions here tend not to shy away from any iteration of the photographic form.
Significantly, the ACP lends its capability to the amateur photographic community. The access the centre affords to its equipment and expertise is what makes it truly special. A program of social inclusion called Outreach gives photographic prowess to community groups and sundry other projects develop the love for photo-media in all.
