A pub with a long history, The Union Hotel has launched itself into the 21st century in style.

Editorial

The name and the façade are a little misleading – this, my friends is not your average local. In recent years The Union has undergone a major renovation which was intended to embrace the gourmet pub, and they have. The home of Le Bistro and Uncorked, many locals head here for their French cuisine. However, it’s not all escargot and negroni’s, the public bar is still a great place to indulge in a quiet beer or three and watch the game.

The front bar compared to the rest of The Union could be called basic, but, for those who need a plasma TV and a TAB at their disposal, the front bar is a gem. On sunny days, most prefer the courtyard which can cater to large crowds of a weekend. In classic black and white with palms jotted around the area, the courtyard is a relaxed space that offers a great way to unwind. The odd Roman style pillar adds a touch of grandeur and the outdoor heaters are most obliging.

There’s a wide range of beers on tap and the wine list out does most pubs in the vicinity.
There’s also plenty of entertainment. Mondays is trivia night, and Tuesdays and Thursdays are for the more serious punter – yes, it’s National Poker League tournament time. Every year Bastille Day and The Melbourne Cup are celebrated too.
Oh and if that’s not enough, wireless is also available.
