Rubyos
Editorial
More and more we are seeing the versatile venue that caters to a variety of situations. Casual dinner over a few drinks, serious drinks over a nibble or a romantic evening for two, Rubyos does it all well. In fact, so well does she do it, it is not uncommon to stay for dinner even if you were just planning on drinks before heading off to another eatery.
The secret is two-fold. Give people options and do it with a smile. Whether you are in the cocktail lounge or the dining area, the menu is the same. So, you can easily meet a friend for a martini or two while grazing on their sumptuous range of internationally inspired tapas. Very clever. The food stymies the effects of the alcohol so you can sample more of the cocktail list. And please do – these guys know what they are doing.
From the more traditional, such as the Manhattans and Margaritas, to the more adventurous like the Zelda Martini – vodka, mint and sugar with a hint of almond, or the Basil Grande – strawberries, basil and vodka with a peppery infusion, it’s just one hit after another. Oh, and they are more than reasonably proceed too – when was the last time you paid $12.50 for a fancy drink in this town?
The cocktail bar area is small and a filled with orange and purple pouffes which add splashes of colour to what is essentially an elegant white walled and dark wood fit-out. However, what it lacks in size, it sure makes up for in personality.
