Campos Coffee
Editorial
Newtown has long run on late nights and lazy mornings. This is one suburb that doesn't wake easily. Thank goodness, then, for Campos; a café serving up dedication and enough uncompromising caffeine to get the daily party started right.
As any coffee addict or aficionado will tell you, Campos sells one of Sydney's best and strongest brews. There's a lot of work in those millilitres you're sipping; the company sources ethically grown green coffee beans from around the globe and processes and roasts them in Sydney. In store, the meticulous, obsessive quest for detail continues. Baristas engage with your order as though it's half scientific challenge, half performance prop. They do make a bit of a theatrical fuss in here. But, honestly, if you like your Joe strong and distinctive, it's worth the wait.
And, there will be a wait. Sydney is a city starved for strong coffee and a city that loves a good show. If you're prepared to jostle with tired nurses from the RPA, under-slept brats from St Andrews and a hard core of coffee snobs who believe a good bend is their birth right, you will be rewarded.
Those of constitutions made of anything more flimsy than steel might want to chat with staff about the strength of the brew before ordering.
