Editorial

Just beyond the main hub of Manly and the many cafes that jostle for breathing space you’ll find Jellyfish, a casual yet stylish restaurant offering relaxed, beachside dining. Bobbing between restaurants, Jellyfish looks out on to the beach at Manly’s North Steyne and soaks up the sea breeze. Opened in 2004, this restaurant is a popular haunt for locals in search of laid-back dining by the ocean. Catering for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Jellyfish is popular with beach-goers and families alike. With an open frontage and mirror on the back wall reflecting the bold blue hues of the ocean, this long, narrow room fills with chatty guests most evenings. A casual cafe by day, at night the globed candles are lit and Jellyfish transforms into a fine dining restaurant.

Start the morning with a free trade, organic coffee and French toast or porridge with strawberry and rhubarb compote. The restaurant’s day menu offers a range of wraps, burgers, pastas and salads, and extends to mains such as Atlantic salmon and roasted chicken. For dinner move on to the signature salt and pepper squid with chilli, lime and coriander, and the fish of the day or beef eye fillet. Take advantage of the restaurant’s ever-changing wine list, and the helpful waitstaff, to create your ideal meal. Jellyfish also offers a special menu for the little ones. Perfect for a family meal out or a casual catch-up with friends, Jellyfish is certainly the catch of the day in Manly.
