La Botte D'Oro Restaurant
Editorial
La Botte D'Oro is now one of Leichhardt's esteemed senior citizens, three decades old and run by the same family since its inception. On Marion Street away from the clamour of noisy cafes and trendy bars, La Botte is very relaxed and very traditional; large and clean with white walls and tiled floors and wooden shelves stocked with bottles of olive oil, vinegar, pickled chillies and wine.
Near the front of the dining room you'll see the serve-yourself selection of antipasto, and on most days there's also a fresh seafood display so you can pick your favourite fish and have the chefs dish it up for you. For more conventional a la carte ordering, a good starter is the nunnata (whitebait fritters), or a risotto of truffles and porcini. Pastas are fresh, simple, home-style affairs with offerings such as the ricotta ravioli paplina with ham, cheese, mushroom and cream. For mains, select from a wide variety of veal, chicken and seafood dishes including vitello agli asparigi (veal with asparagus and white wine sauce), and prawns in tomato and chilli.
