The Bourbon

The old girl may have been transformed but she still’s the best place to experience the sights and sounds of the Cross.

Editorial

The Bourbon is a Kings Cross institution. There are regulars who have been coming here for years. For others it's a momentary haven from the hustle of the Cross. For many however, it's simply the best posi in the Cross to take in all the action.

The Bourbon has gone through a number of incarnations in its forty-odd years. A major renovation has seen the old girl transform into a much more respectable watering hole; the late night licence has been retained however, so don't be surprised to find early afternoon drinkers who may still be going from the night before.

Although the major overhaul has brought this icon into the 21st century, there is still a whiff of the '50s decor it began with. Don't expect juke boxes and waitresses on roller skate though, the overall look is modern and chic.

Their legendary Happy Hour still runs from 6pm until 9pm. This is heaven for those on a strict budget and one of the best tourist deals in town. Here you can indulge in extreme people-watching while nursing a house spirit, glass of wine or tap beer for only $3.

If hungry, their $10 dollar steak is often cited as one of the best deals in Sydney.
