Melt Bar
Editorial
How many bars can Kings Cross have? Seriously, how many? There doesn't seem to be a limit and the punters all seem to be quite happy about it. These days the bars are getting better and better and the competition is getting fierce. Melt Bar is one of the better ones. Of course, the first thing about Melt is that it's way off the main drag. Yes, nothing gives a place instant cred like being a little hard to find. Located in the cool of Kellett Street, Melt Bar has that aspect well and truly ticked.
Once upstairs, expect a retro feel with op shop couches, old school lamps and eclectic art work. It's a large space that caters well to the funky twenty something's that pile in for the varied selection of nights on offer. During the week everything from deep house to live music takes centre stage, culminating in a wild night of flamenco on Sundays. There's even the occasional French-Caribbean party. Exhibition openings and private parties can also take place at Melt.
Either pull up a bar stool or grab a more comfortable position and order one of their well made cocktails. There's also a good range of beers both local and imported and a fine selection of wines too.
Oh and they have escaped the dreaded lock-out, another plus!

This is my regular weekend hangout and oh what a joy. No d***heads, good staff and superb cocktails, that's before I get really over the top. Always a welcoming place to go to.
