Kings Cross Hotel
Editorial
After much renovation - a job that actually took six years - the Kings Cross Hotel is a multi-level masterpiece of a sprawling super-pub. On the ground floor is the Main Bar, on level one the Balcony Bar beckons, level three is the intimate Lounge Bar, and level five has the Rooftop bar, with the remaining levels decked out for private functions. The d'cor is a nice mix of modern designer gone wild alongside muted colours that don't detract from the stunning historical exterior of the building.
The Balcony Bar is the place to watch the sunset over the city and eavesdrop on the passing parade of Kings Cross nightlife on William Street below. Smokers are welcome up here, so the place gets pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights. The Main Bar on ground level is for live music, and the beer 'o'clock crowd, tourists and outer-suburban types make for an eclectic mix.
But whatever your tipple, the Kings Cross is sure to please. Beers on tap include the usual suspects plus local boutique and international brews in bottles. Cocktails are aplenty, and the bartenders are experienced mixologists. Ask them to surprise you with something new.
If you need some sustenance, the Balcony restaurant, with views over the street, is perfect for a seafood platter or scotch fillet with pepper sauce, and in true Kings Cross style, they serve food until the wee hours of the morning.
Saturday night bumps out with fresh dance jams with a 'no restriction on genre' policy - making for an unpredictable, but guaranteed-to-make-you-sweat night.

Used to work the bar on the Roof and DJ ..... wish they didn't renovate - it was way cooler back then! (The operational lift is a great addition though !!)
