Golden Sheaf Hotel
Editorial
When you first stumble across the grand old sprawling pub that is the Golden Sheaf Hotel, the first thing you might find yourself pondering is if you are extremely lost. It's not exactly what you would expect from the somewhat posh neighbourhood especially downstairs in the public bar, that's for sure. In fact, it's a whole lot better. A REAL pub, with an honest, down-to-earth crowd.
The place is huge, with a great big sun-filled beer garden out back, a big rooftop terrace if the garden isn't near the sun enough for you, several bars, pool tables, pokies and a dedicated sports bar with plenty of big screen action. Depending what mood your in, there's bar for every occasion here.
The Soda Bar is a far more glam affair, slightly more in keeping with Double Bay. All fancy arm chairs and chaise long, this plush bar is a fancy affair, stretching out onto the deck for some luxurious garden action with colonial feel. The beer garden has it's own back bar for a more relaxed feel and live music. The Sports Bar is definitely one for the blokes.
A selection of smaller rooms means there's plenty of scope for private functions if you fancy celebrating your birthday here, and there are regular live bands and DJ sets is you want things to be a bit more up beat. All in all, there's plenty of fun to be had at the Golden Sheaf.
