Will & Toby's

Taylor Square has suddenly become a whole lot classier. Flushing out all the corners, this establishment has hoisted one of Oxford Street's most famous corners up two high-end levels, all the way from a Supper Club to a Polo Lounge. There is a sort of Art Deco feel to the place, the soft accoutrement of lounge and cocktail, which sits comfortably with both hightail and casual drinker alike.
The Supper Club houses a handsome bar area that might have been freighted in from the roaring ?20s. This sees a range of singers and performers of the jazz persuasion perform on a small stage, in front of an assortment of leather armchairs and a zebra skin rug. Wednesday nights include the Soul Sessions.
Upstairs The Polo Lounge is an exercise in classy minimalism. The long, black leather couch is offset by a melange of mirrors, off-white decor and soft lamps. An enormous life-size horse lamp steals the show. There is also a good menu of tasting plates, such as Moroccan spiced chicken skewers. The cocktail list is meticulous, and navigates its way through the traditional Manhattan to a rather exquisite Napoleon Crusta. And don't forget the Finger Prince (who could?) or the Hot Toddy (good for colds).
Fridays, enjoy two-for-one cocktail evening. A DJ also plays chilled out funk in a session known as Lick My Deck. Perhaps there are some things on Taylor Square that don't change ...
