Stonewall Hotel
Editorial
The gay rights movement has always been a movement with much strength, diversity and colour. And if you're looking for an epicentre in Sydney, then the Stonewall Hotel is a pretty sure bet. A Mecca for the city's gay scene, Stonewall makes no bones about what it is: a celebration for like-minded individuals, all united under one, rainbow flag, where go-go dancers shimmy and queens and kings reign supreme.
There might be a large range of tap beers and top-shelf spirits behind the bar, but most of the clientele at the Stonewall are quite happy to get topless and hit the dancefloor to get a little sweaty. DJs throughout the week play a range of hard house to vocal house and R&B. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, there is a huge variety of music. Special guests are also wheeled in for big parties - such as Mardi Gras, Easter weekend et al - to keep the dancefloor full till the bar's early closing hours.
Stonewall also proudly play host to some of Sydney's most (in)famous drag queens and shows, with the addition of a few cheeky international guests as well. Check the website for upcoming shows so you don't miss out.
