Pocket Bar

A sexy little pop art palace of cocktail goodness, Pocket Bar punches well above its own weight.

Editorial

Some names are deceptive, and Pocket Bar is one of those names - it's not particularly small. But it is very cosy, and a little bit sexy, so maybe it's more about getting your hands into someone else's pockets? Regardless, this Melbourne-style, trendy little hot spot is all the rage on Sydney's scene, and rightfully so.

Polished concrete floors, exposed brick walls and huge, pop art murals, including a fantastically cool King Kong growling over all and sundry, mean Pocket stands out for all the right reasons from the first second you set foot in the joint. As such, it's usually swarming with hipsters, so prepare to fight your way to the bar and amp up your style factor.

With funky music, invitingly retro sofas and a great big glass bar, Pocket successfully transforms from coffee shop by day, into fabulously hip bar at night - a little like Bondi's oh-so-cool Shop and Wine Bar. There's a great wine list to be had, with pocket pleasing half bottle options available, and the hot bar staff can whip up a mean cocktail - go old school and treat yourself to a gimlet, or a crisp, clean Manhattan. And in a rather cool twist, you can order those scrumptious pockets of pastry - crepes - both in savoury and sweet options.
