A stylish bar of lavish cocktails, cold beer and smooth beats.

Editorial

After a semi-recent image make-over, the Burdekin Hotel has set itself up as something of an establishment. Almost literally marking the gateway to Sydney's infamous Oxford Street, the Burdekin is in a prime locale for providing some extremely good times.

Sprawled over five levels, you can enter the Burdekin and rest assured that at least one area of the building will tickle your fancy. The names of each bar are conveniently named to be as self-explanatory as possible: DugOut is the basement level, where you might go if you like to be ?scene' and can appreciate the virtues of sympathetic lighting. The Burdekin Bar is the street-level welcomer and provides plenty of beers on tap and standards in the fridge. It's cool because it doesn't try to be. Mini Bar is ? small. Viper and Lava Lounges over levels three and four are where the (verbal) sex happens, the cocktails bring tears to your eyes and the DJs play till late. That's it in a nutshell.

What's great about the Burdekin establishment is, essentially, its overwhelming sense of being an establishment. It's laid-back and cool, has the right music on at the right time, and if you just want to sit back for a quiet beer and watch the world roll by, well, that's cool too. An excellent kick-off point.
