Fine during any weather season, Yots Cafe Bar is the ideal spot to park for a little harbour appreciation.

Editorial

For those familiar with the western side of Darling Harbour, you'll know that the boardwalk cafe/bar is something of a ubiquity. So it's testament to the ones that have managed to stick it out on the strip for more than 12 months without overloading their punters with crisp dry whites and salt'n'pepper squid. The cleverly named Yots (yes, as in 'Yachts') is the resident eatery at the Australian Maritime Museum, so it would be fair to say it has a reasonable proportion of guaranteed guests, but that certainly hasn't stopped it vying with its neighbours for the creme de la creme of harbourside diners. The location is second to none in the area. Not only is it waterfront, but it's situated in front of the heritage vessels kept in the harbour - as well as the ever-alluring Museum submarine. If you love boats (old and new), you'll love Yots.

The wine list and menu are small but are apparently changed on an almost monthly basis. If their current list is anything to go by though, you'll be in luck if you like, well, crisp dry whites. The 2008 Tempus Two Semillion Sauvignon Blanc is hard to pass by, as is the Saltram Makers Table Chardonnay. However, if you know anything about the price of Aussie wines, the mark up on this one will make you gasp.

The choice of reds is limited - there are three on offer, but all are reasonable and reasonably priced.
Yots is a gorgeous and refreshingly casual spot for a light lunch or an afternoon chardy. It's lovely when the weather's lousy and superb in the sun.
