Vera Cruz Restaurant
Editorial
There are hints of the familiar: a soft taco enfolds a fillet of chargrilled fish with guacamole and salsa fresca; meat and vegetarian fajitas come with blackbeans and creme fraiche; a Mexican-style paella uses tender calamari, mussels, fish and chorizo. The speciality is the chipotle salt lamb cutlets: beautifully plump, meaty cutlets chargrilled to smoky perfection, served with sweet potato and corn salsa. Desserts are simple affairs; the churros with chocolate ice-cream is a crunchy, sugary delight. If you're a tequila connoisseur Vera Cruz boasts an impressive 25 varieties. Overall, flavours are surprisingly subtle and while a little more chilli heat would not go astray, the ingredients are top-quality and expertly handled - a very refreshing change from your local Texican.

Have those saying this not mexican food ever been to Mexico? The food at vera cruz is actually more authentic than every mexican restaurant I've been to in sydney. It's been a while since I've been to this restaurant, so I can't comment on service or price or whatever, but the food was great last time I went.

I agree with Mark the food at Vera Cruz is the most authentic Mexican cuisine in Australia and so delicious-I have been to Mexico at least 4 times and the food here is even better than what I ate there! It's a shame people comment on things they know nothing about!

I agree with Mark & Suzie! It must be awful for Restaurateurs who go to such lengths to serve authentic food like they do at Vera Cruz and be told it's not Mexican food. I know that the owner goes to Mexico every year for inspiration - that's dedication!
