Famous as the site for the inauguration of Australian Federation on 1 January 1901, this expansive 220 hectares of prime land proudly bears the title “The People’s Park”.

Editorial

And with 220 hectares of playground, there's a good chance there'll be something for everybody. At Centennial Park can you enjoy the tranquil experience of bird watching (120 species at last count) on one of the many lakes, ponds and swamps. For those active picnickers, other activities include tai chi, horse riding, (you can even have lessons) bike riding, jogging, walking and even cross-country running. And if your idea of a picnic involves team-based activities, then with its softball, baseball, hockey, rugby and cricket fields, this is the park for you. A model yacht pond and numerous sites with kids' play equipment will look after the needs of the little people. There are enough picnic tables located under trees for everyone as well as five designated barbecue areas with free barbecue facilities. Think New York's Central Park right here in the heart of Sydney!
