Infusion Restaurant & Bar
Editorial
Hotel bars have never had a great reputation for character, style or atmosphere. Yet despite its location within the Campbelltown Rydges Hotel, Infusion Restaurant and Bar is surprisingly do-able. The usual sterility is the first thing to register upon entering the lobby, but you have to give them credit for trying. The second thing is the brewing vats sitting behind glass walls in the corner. Did we mention that Infusion also doubles as a microbrewery? There aren't many hotel bars that can make that claim.
There are only a handful of specialty brews: The Appin Ale is refreshingly cold, but too sweet to be quenching. The Fishers Ghost Lager though is long and meaty, and also packs a punch on the booze count - it's delightful with a curry pie. Local beers on tap are a good alternative for those feeling less adventurous. There are just the usual varieties to choose from save for the delicious addition of Bluetongue.
The wine list is stock standard and as inoffensive as the decor. You'll certainly be able to get something to guzzle, and possibly linger on depending on your wine appreciation levels. Cocktails are also available but really the beers are the priority. In short, Infusion is not bad if you're in the vicinity, and is perhaps even worth a detour every now and then, but don't plan a trip here.
