The Shop and Wine Bar

Bondi's tiny Shop and Wine Bar transforms Cinderella-style from cute coffee shop during the day to gorgeous wine bar in the evenings.

Editorial

There are two age-old adages that seem to persevere despite ridiculous over-use. Well, there are quite a few more than two, but these two certainly rate right up there: all good things come in small packages, and the good things also come to those who wait. Cleary this is propaganda created by slow and short people, but sometimes it proves to be indefectibly true. This is the case with Bondi's super-cute and teeny-weeny Shop and Wine Bar.

In a former life this adorable little beach haunt was a daytime-only coffee shop serving out indescribably good caffeine hits to the beautiful beach bums of Bondi's spectacular surrounds. All retro ruby-red flock wallpaper and kooky, kitsch charm, there's not much not to like about this place, even if it is absolutely miniscule and requires serious patience or aggressive shoulder barging to grab a table.

Well, thankfully it still serves up the java bean, but has extended its hours in order to morph into a miniature wine bar of an evening. And we couldn't be more chuffed, frankly. The mellow morning vibe blends with ease and appropriate charm into a wonderful spot to spend an evening with good friends, cheese and decent if uninspired Australian and Kiwi wines. It's more about the friendly, funny charm here - oh, and the affordable prices. They do half bottles, and tapas-style tasty bites are on hand to wash down the booze... as long as you can get in.

I love this place. Their coffees and sandwiches are awesome... and the wine list is great. The staff are fab... really friendly and provide great service - something you don't always get in Bondi :-)
