Cream Tangerine
Editorial
Apparently, Cream Tangerine is named after the first line in the Beatles song, Savoy Truffle. Still doesn't make sense? Don't bother - it's not that kind of place. Cream Tangerine is an interesting yet desperately cool new-ish venue located on the terrace of the Bondi Swiss Grande Hotel. Yes, a bizarre location for a 21st century meets psychadelia bar, but for some reason it seems to work. There are two cocktail bars with a focus definitely on the fun stuff. The bar staff, who strut around like something out of a Max Dupain, will literally knock up anything your heart desires. Or at the very least, they'll give it a try. You can actually buy a Pina Colada for two, which arrives in a giant novelty cocktail bowl. If that's not novel enough, you can try having it served up on fire.
The sangria for four (or one ...) comes in a soda stream-like vessel so you can giggle at the ridiculousness of it all while still getting sizzled. And if you like blue things, try the Blai-Tai (a Mai-Tai with blue curacao). Honestly, who thinks of these things? Cream Tangerine is certainly giving it their best shot, and they have a loyal but achingly cool following. The location sells it more than anything you can get behind the bar, but at the end of the day, it's a beaut spot to relax, have a drink and watch the antics unfold.
