In the forcefully casual style so notable and many of our beachside eateries, the Coogee iteration of Beach Burrito is doing its best to offer us Tijuana kitsch by way of LA. In terms of interior décor, this is well achieved. But, the flavours here are as close to California as Sydney is to the Sonoran desert. The food here is lacking a little spice. A few years back, the BBC did deliver what were, in fact, Sydney’s best Mexican snacks. Now with a little more authentic competition popping up, this hip taqueria might consider lifting its game to the latitude of San Diego. Having said this, the food’s okay. Just think of it as a mildly spiced sandwich shop.
