Freeway Hotel

No guessing why so many people make this a freeway pit stop.

Editorial

The exotic name says it all. This large, freestanding hotel sits upon the glistening sweep of Sydney's famous Gore Hill Freeway like a freshly painted furniture complex. You can take it all in from the roomy piano bar and Verandah Lounge as the afternoon sun fills up the windows and the sound system palpitates with some lazy beats. And if you wait for the soft fuzz of twilight you may even catch some headlights coming on.

As a venue the Freeway serves a widely functional purpose and is a popular spot for both client meetings and knock-off beers. The hotel is not shy to dish out the specials and there's a range of offers to abuse. These include free nibbles, and cheap spirits and cocktails throughout the week. On Fridays a piano player makes an honest name out of the Piano Bar by deftly tickling the ivories. Until the DJ gets there at 10pm that is, and dress code becomes ?absolutely sexy'.

Sport is the catchcry of the weekend, and there are few events that will slip through the wide-screened net of the Sports Bar. There is also a large gaming room out the back for punters who like their TAB. The restaurant food here is good and well-priced, particularly the signature steak and fries. The bar's attention to locality is also reflected in their home brews; Low Octane and High Octane grace the taps along with a variety of popular beers.
