Little India Grills
Editorial
The leafy suburb of Yarralumla is quiet, pleasant and a stone’s throw from the embassies and residences of diplomats from around the globe. Naturally, then, in this part of Canberra you can expect to find some great restaurants and international tastes – you don’t even need look much further than the local Yarralumla shops. Newly established Indian restaurant Little India Grills is a welcome addition to the world of flavours that can already be found here, providing take-away that you really should eat in. Passionate husband and wife team, Vick and Sue Arora, know the local clientele and pride themselves on pleasing their returning patrons. Although relatively small, their focus is very much on serving the people – families, children, friends and local businesses – while also giving back to the Canberra community. And this restaurant is only a hobby project: both Vick and Sue work as professionals during the day.
Limited only by size, the Little India Grills menu offers Indian delicacies that come in very modest portions. You won’t be allowed to leave until you’ve tried the delightfully spicy prawn pepper fry. The flavours are rich, spicy and aromatic; the product of two quality chefs in control of curry and Tandoor respectively. Most dishes are made from scratch and in surprisingly quick time. And when it comes to the bill wherever Vick can throw a discount in (even on top of the already-moderate prices) he will, offering savings on pick-ups and for valued customers – another reason to go back again.
