Bentham St Bar 'n' Pizza
Editorial
Some have likened the age-old combination of beer and pizza to ambrosia and mana from the heavens - these people have eaten at Bentham Street Bar'n'Pizza. Expect nothing run-of-the-mill from this mob, set on enlivening the rather quiet 'burbs of Canberra. Sure, serving decent plonk and delicious pizza is not rocket science, but Bentham Street certainly cranks it up a notch. Long banquettes line the side wall, while the bar is packed with various alcoholic persuasions. Small inside, it can get crowded and noisy (although this adds to the charm) - but head outside and enjoy some of that fresh air that Canberra's renowned for. Pizza for one, pizza to share, pizza to go; Bentham Street does it all.
Grab a glass of wine from the extensive list (most available by the glass), or a bottle to share. The pizzas are better value when shared, but if you can't finish it all, the friendly staff are more than happy to pack it up for you to take home. With gluten-free bases available, Bentham Street will appeal to all. And there is a pizza topping for everyone - from lemongrass and lime chicken to prawns and pesto - so you'll always find something you want. If it's packed to the rafters, just grab a pizza to take away and pick up a bottle of wine on the way home.
