Editorial

Peppered Prawn is very upfront about its specialty - seafood, if you haven't guessed. With a prime location, ample outdoor seating (with heaters for the chillier days) and a sleek interior, Peppered Prawn is rather refreshing. After a hard day's shopping, or after work on a Friday, what better place to relax than in the comfy and modern Peppered Prawn? Lunch is perfect outdoors, while sitting inside gives you a good view of all the magic happening in the kitchen. Powerful scents and alluring aromas waft out to tempt those still reading their menus, and tantalise those who have already ordered.

Peppered Prawn offers set menus for large groups or functions comprising excellent quality and value-for-money. However, the a la carte menu is especially pleasing. The express seafood lunch for two brings a little beachside diner to sea-starved Canberra: an ample selection of light and crispy battered flathead, calamari rings and tiger prawns, served with chunky hand-cut fries, salad and little pots of fresh-made tartare. They also have what could be Canberra's only oyster bar, sourcing exclusively Coffin Bay and Sydney Rock oysters (depending on availability and quality). As an au naturale man myself, I was nonetheless tempted by Peppered Prawn's signature French-style oysters with creamy tarragon butter and grilled mozzarella cheese. Peppered Prawn also has some classic “surf'n'turf” and some great meals for sharing.

The experiance at the pepered prawn was not enjoyable at all !! besides the very long wait for the food, the food was cold and had an off smell and the staff were extreamly rude. WARNING: Save your Money and Time.

This restaurant was recommended by friends who are frequent diners. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary so we were keeen to find a suitable venue. Excellent service the staff were attentavive but not intrusive. Seafood was fresh and very tasty. I would rate this restaurant in the same class as top Sydney and Melbourne restaurants without the price tag. Will definetly be back.

We dined at the Peppered Prawn just last week again since our last vist early november. The food can easily be identified as fresh. I go down to the coast every year and have had the worse experience where ever i may eat. Canberra is lucky to have such great fresh seafood. I was also lucky enough to add it desert after the filling meal. Not sure what to choose i asked and was kindly recommended ethier the 'Torte' and 'Creme brulee' being both popular. The Creme Brulee was delicious. The staff were very helpful and friendly and not to metion the lovely serivce recieved of the wine being poured and the water. Thank you for such an enjoyable experience!

was put out that we had a pram even though we were the only ones in the resturant. ordered chicken and prawn, it was so dry that i could not even get my knife through it, it was liked it had been cooked in the microwave too long.after returning it to the kitchen i asked for tempura seafood, well i should have just asked for a bowl of oil. I am a healthy eater so i came away feeling very ill. floor was grotty and the wine glasses dirty... i was very upset to pay at the end. never again. dont know how they won those awards!!!!!!!

said on menu food was gluten free - then when asked further details they couldn't give a straight answer and said it was best to avoid it if I was a Coeliac. If its not Gluten free - don't label it as gluten free! won't be going back for this reason.
