Impressing you from the first moment you step inside its open and airy entrance, this restaurant is a perfect mix of European style and Australian warmth. E.U. Café is perfectly suited to intimate occasions.
Following the polished floorboards through the restaurant, you are guaranteed to be wowed by the hidden oasis awaiting you out the back. With a large and tastefully decorated room that seamlessly flows into a semi-covered courtyard adorned with ferns, the romantic and refined ambience is undeniable and seemingly a different world to the bustling street out front. Black and white photos lining the wall and a wooden motif continued through the clever use of wall panelling and modern furniture, this space has the capacity to be either serious and formal or relaxed and laid-back.
This venue is one of the few in Canberra that does brunch as well as it does bruschetta – offering weekend brunch in addition to its lunch, dinner and grazing platers. The menu plays homage to the flavours of Europe and offers choices inspired from Portugal to Greece, with a good dash of Asian influence to round out flavours. Like any restaurant worth its salt, the menu here is adapted to the season and fresh produce, but the current offerings are far too tempting not to mention. Pan-fried scallops are served with sweet pumpkin puree and then topped with refreshing avocado and orange compote and crunchy almond praline. Portugese-style roasted spatchcock is another example of the plethora of taste experiences on offer here. Equally polished in their execution of weekend brunch, this is a restaurant that should be on your to-do list.
