There is a lot to be said for dining at suburban restaurants - namely friendly service, value for money, and ample, free parking (or, as the case may be, an easy walk home after a wine or three). Morks in Florey offers all these attractions. However, this Thai restaurant is a world removed from the standard but nonetheless well-loved Asian eateries dotted around Canberra. In stark contrast to its description on paper, this restaurant offers interesting contemporary Thai dishes, and is the first restaurants in Canberra to serve the new cuisine.
There are essentially two different menus available. The takeaway menu more closely resembles the Thai fare that Australian diners are familiar with. The Morks difference is that the ingredients used are fresh and prepared with care to ensure that favourites such as the Jungle Curry have flavours that dance on your taste buds. This menu, undeniably excellent as it may be, is by no means outdone by the dine-in offerings.
For those eating in the restaurant and enjoying the luxury of not having to wash up, there is an array of truly interesting and well-executed dishes to command full sensory attention. The offerings here showcase age-old family cooking techniques, Thai ingredients combined with Australian influences. The braised pork belly with crackling, English spinach and boiled quail eggs is served with five spice pork reduction, chilli and garlic relish, and is a signature dish that has a local following. The friendly atmosphere of this restaurant will ensure there are ample reasons to return again and again.

Perfect food and service. The atmosphere is amazing. Not pretentious and so worth it. Relatively low cost with super food. Contemporary menu with simple choice…you want everything but it’s so easy to choose…what an innovation! Next time, I have to have the pork belly, so says 3 other clients while I was thoroughly enjoying the chicken and my wife absolutely loved the duck. I have never had such an eating and socialising experience. For those restaurants you might give 5/5, this one is BETTER! Please don't go to Morks, I don't want to have to book 3 months in advance!!!

Our first Valentine's dinner together, my partner and I enjoyed Morks' Valentine's menu, beautiful 5-course meal at $50 each, worth every cent!! Beautiful presented. Well done Morks!!
