The Japanese diner is hardly ubiquitous in Canberra. Sure, there are some upmarket Japanese restaurants, but if you’re after some home-style ramen soup or gyoza, choices can be limited. It’s for this reason that Tasuke does so well. This quirky little eatery is great for an inexpensive lunch or quick dinner. Among the favourites are the pork buns, the teriyaki chicken, agedashi tofu and the excellent pork cutlets. The sushi and sashimi is fresh and well done. However, consistency can be a problem, especially at busy times.
