Murphy's Shooters Pub & Nightclub

The faintest allusion to an Irish bar gives this place a little Eire mystique.

Editorial

The closest this place gets to ??Irish charm' is the corrugated iron on the wall (industrial, Irish charm?) and a smattering of Irish backpackers (eager for a dose of licensed action not available in the rest of Australia). To be sure, there's not much that echoes of the misty hills of Dublin shire, nor the waterside bars and pubs of Galway (where the pipe comes from). What you will find at Murphy's is a nice lot of staff, all young and eager to please, and a decent selection of beers and spirits. If you don't mind the slightly inflated prices - it is half nightclub, after all - then you've got one pretty decent night on your hands.

Downstairs you'll find booth seating just ripe for the sitting. A couple of mates and you're set. Mind, you'd best be in early to grab a pew, as the place does get fairly full once the sun goes down. Entertainment downstairs consists of watching mates get thrashed on pool tables (seriously, don't some people have a job?!), or watching straight people try to pick up (so many mind games). Of course, there's something that can be said for the simple pleasure of sitting back with a nice cold beer and simply people watching.

Upstairs is where the fun kicks in. Of course, the definition of ?fun' here is: watching Anglo-Saxons with very little rhythm trying to strut (word used here in its loosest possible sense) their stuff on the dancefloor. To be sure, it's definitely a craic.
